This was a collaboration project with the film and TV students. We were required to create a documentary to do with a place in Edinburgh. My partner and I chose to do our documentary on carparks. We both wanted to do a somewhat abstract film and both enjoy conceptual art so we very quickly found direction with this film and found it easy to work with one another due to the similar way we work. Our intention in creating this film was to be open mined and give ourselves the chance to experiment. We started by going to different carparks and collecting a lot of footage. We then sifted through the footage I found shots we liked. We then re-filmed that footage on a TV screen to get an old TV / line effect on the footage. We then edited that footage to create two sequences that play side by side. I also created a soundtrack made up entirely out of sounds that would be found in a carpark such as the sound of an indicator, a windscreen wiper, a horn, a door slamming etc.
