FINLAY'S FOREST

(SEMESTER 2)
As Ester went back to Estonia at the end of last semester, I have taken over full responsibility of this project.

STYLE
Due to time constraints from unforeseen circumstances, everything is very unfinished, but I wanted to use what I had to try and show where I am going with the final film that I will complete following the hand-in.

Picture

I fell in love with this image and used it as the main inspiration for the atmosphere, colour palette and lighting effects.

The scenes all take place at night and the client wanted a very 'magical' feel to the forrest. I have tried to achieve this feeling through the use of lighting and colour.
The client wanted the film to have a very unique style. She was happy with my suggestion of doing it all graphically (for convenience purposes) whilst employing elements of watercolour to maintain an interesting and artistic feel.

POST-PRODUCTION

Picture
Picture
I imported all the elements into After Effects in their different layers and positioned them in 3D space so that so that the environment interacted naturally with the camera movements.
Picture
A added a spot light above the scene to act as the moon emitting light down into the forrest.

Picture
I added a plug-in effect called trapcode shine to create streaks of light in a blue hue that move slightly.
Picture
A added a second plug-in effect called trapcode particular  to create small particles of dust that catch the light. I thought this really added a magical feel to the forrest.

ANAMATIC
This can be found in my dropbox folder as I did not want to publish it publicly as it includes the audio provided to me by the client.

BOOK
The client also wants an illustrated children's book of Finlay's Forest. She gave me the text and I've worked out the layout and illustrations on each page. Once the client is happy with everything I will go ahead with the final illustrations.
(A PDF of the book is in my dropbox folder as I didn't want to put it online)
