WOLF
On the floor in front of the projection is a life-size sculpture of a sleeping wolf. Its stomach will be mechanically rigged to move up and down creating the illusion of breathing.

Breathing Mechanism
To make the wolf appear as if it is breathing and 'alive' I will rig his chest cavity to rise and fall. I will do this by building the below mechanism, but using two 6l rubber containers instead of a hot water bottle (which would be too small).
Wolf breathing mechanism kindly designed and built by Michael MacDonald - UOE Engineering student.
Sculpture
The base of the sculpture will be carved out of polystyrene. this will be padded with a thin layer of polyester fibre fill and real fur skins will be sown on top with the fur trimmed in the appropriate places to achieve a realistic look.
Wolf Construction
Covering
Found a full pre-tanned coyote skin on ebay that was a result of a culling (he wasn't killed for his skin but it was leftover so they put it up for sale).
